Calendar
Our calendar is at the heart of association life, bringing members together to learn, share, and enjoy beekeeping in good company. In the summer months we meet on Sundays, visiting members’ apiaries to explore different approaches and gain valuable hands-on experience. Some gatherings are held at the association apiary, where the focus is on practical teaching and working with the bees. During the winter we move indoors, meeting on the last Thursday of the month to hear from guest speakers, catch up with friends, and of course enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake. Whatever the season, our meetings are a warm and welcoming way to connect with fellow beekeepers and support our shared love of bees.

Spring at the Apiary: April Hive Checks and Hands-On Learning
Association Apiary
We’re holding a hands-on spring apiary meeting focused on getting colonies off to a strong start. We’ll carry out seasonal inspections, assess colony strength and stores, check brood patterns, and look at what the bees are telling us as the year builds.
This session is ideal for members who are happy to share their experience or who’d like to build confidence with spring checks, ask questions in a relaxed setting, and learn by seeing (and doing) the jobs together at the Association Apiary.

Making Increases & Varroa Resistance Research with Visiting Scientists
Association Apiary
Join us for a hands-on apiary meeting with visiting German scientists who will be taking colony measurements to support research into varroa resistance and the resilience of locally adapted bees. Members will have the chance to observe the process, learn what’s being measured and why, and see how research connects to practical, treatment-free beekeeping.
Alongside the research work, we’ll be opening colonies and making increaes. A great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and support the wider understanding of resilient local bee populations in our area.
